Amidst the gentle whispers of anticipation, the Won Institute of Graduate Studies bore witness to a momentous occasion on Thursday, April 10th, 2024. Gathered within its Dharma Hall, the Class of 2025, adorned in a tapestry of dreams and aspirations, stood poised to embark on the next chapter of their journey as acupuncture practitioners. It was a day marked not only by ceremony but by the echoes of tradition and the promise of new beginnings.

Under the watchful gaze of Doreen Lafferty, Clinical Director, and Ben Griffith, Acupuncture Chair, the front of the room was set for the unveiling of a time-honored tradition—the Golden Needle ceremony. As the room brimmed with anticipation, each student’s name resounded with reverence as they were called forth by Dr. Griffith, their footsteps echoing the cadence of determination and purpose.

With each rose presented by Dr. Lafferty, a tapestry of stories unfolded—a testament to the countless hours of study, the moments of self-discovery, and the bonds forged in pursuit of a shared passion. It was a poignant reminder that behind every needle lies a narrative—a story of resilience, of growth, and of the unwavering pursuit of excellence.

Amidst the emotions, the air was circulating with anticipation as the culmination of years of dedication and sacrifice found expression in a single moment. And as the students stood before their mentors, framed by the aura of tradition, they were not merely recipients of a Golden Needle but torchbearers of a legacy—a legacy of healing, of compassion, and of service to humanity.

In the gentle embrace of the Golden Needle, lies not only a symbol of achievement but a solemn vow—a pledge to honor the trust bestowed upon them, to uphold the Acupuncture principles of integrity and empathy, and to walk the path of healing with humility and grace.

As the ceremony drew to a close, and the echoes of applause faded into the ether, the Class of 2025 stood united—bound by a shared vision, fortified by a sense of purpose, and emboldened by the knowledge that their journey as Clinic Interns had only just begun.

Let it be known that on this day, within the sacred precincts of the Won Institute, the flame of healing was passed from one generation to the next—a beacon of light guiding the way for all who dare to dream, to aspire, and to believe.
