International Student Application Deadlines:

Fall term: June 1

Spring term: October 1

International students applying to one of the Won Institute’s programs should begin their application as soon as possible to allow time for US Visa processing.
Due to changes in federal regulations, Won Institute is no longer able to issue F-1 student visas for any of our Acupuncture or Chinese Herbal Medicine programs.

International Student Admissions Procedures:

  • Complete the same admissions requirements as domestic applicants.
  • Submit the online application to the program of their choice by the deadlines above. Please see the program application for specific requirements for recommendation letters, transcripts, letter of intent and additional application components. Note: Won Buddhist Studies ordination track students have specific recommendation letter requirements. Please consult the Won Buddhist Studies program application and admissions sections of the catalog.
  • Request official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. These official documents must be received in a sealed envelope sent directly from the institution and must be received by the deadlines above. If the institution attended is outside the US and courses were taught in a language other than English, a course-by-course transcript evaluation is required by a (NACES) National Association of Credential Evaluation Services member. Ordination track students from Wonkwang University or Youngsan University applying to Won Buddhist Studies do NOT need to have evaluations completed.
  • Provide English Language Competency by one of the following means:
    • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree at an English-based institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education, or in the UK, Australia, Canada (except Quebec), New Zealand, or Ireland. In all cases, English must have been both the language of instruction and the language of the curriculum used.
