Hyung Won Kang, D.K.M., Ph.D.

Dr. Kang is a professor of Oriental neuropsychiatry at Wonkwang University in Sanbon-ro Gunpo City South Korea. He is a trainer of M&L psychological therapy which plays an important role in the field of Oriental neuropsychiatry. Dr. Kang’s approach is for a therapist to understand the strength (resources) of the patient and to combine modern psychology with Oriental medicine to continuously improve the wellbeing of the patient.

In psychotherapy so called Mindfulness & Loving Presence (M & L), the therapist deliberately sees the patient in the attitude of love, rather than as the object of problem or defect. In this relationship, the patient feels a sense of safety and has the courage and strength to open up and look inside and enter a state of mindfulness allowing the patient to confront unconscious conflicts and oppression.

Oriental medicine psychotherapy uses the basic framework of psychotherapy and sympathetic treatment through the physical approach using acupuncture, herbal treatments and medicine encouraging the patient to maintain a psychological balance.

Dr. Kang believes this workshop will be a valuable experience by using the neuropsychological approach as a key to the healing attitude for the therapist.
