About the Master of Acupuncture Studies Program

As the only accredited acupuncture program in the state of Pennsylvania, our Master of Acupuncture Studies program educates future leading acupuncturists for a growing industry in integrative medicine. Since the program’s inception in 2005, our Master of Acupuncture Studies program has been one of the most successful programs at Won Institute of Graduate Studies. Students enrolled in our accredited three-year program gain a comprehensive understanding of Chinese medical theory and the historic and modern uses of acupuncture. Rigorous, comprehensive academic instruction and early clinical exposure are hallmarks of our program. We pride ourselves on our diverse faculty, many of whom have been trained throughout the world.

HYBRID PROGRAM FOR THE ADULT LEARNER

Our Master of Acupuncture Studies program is an accredited three-year master’s degree program with three terms per year (fall, spring, and summer). New students begin in the fall term only. Classes are held one evening and two days during the week for the first two years, with the schedule changing slightly during the clinical internship starting in the summer term of the second year. We offer a hybrid course schedule, allowing more flexibility for adult learners with outside commitments. Many lecture courses are held in online or hybrid formats, while our clinical training is held in person.

Comprehensive Education & Clinical Training

Five Element Acupuncture & TRADITIONAL CHINESE Medicine

Won Institute offers one of the most comprehensive acupuncture training programs in the United States. We focus on two main treatment styles, including Five Element Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with exposure to many other styles of practice, including Japanese Acupuncture, Channel, Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM), and Sports Medicine Acupuncture. Students also learn other treatment modalities such as cupping, shiatsu, tuina, moxa, gua sha and electro-stim acupuncture.

Students spend the final four terms of our program completing clinical internship hours in our on-site Student Clinic , where they have the opportunity to treat patients under the supervision of experienced acupuncture faculty members. The first two terms in our clinic are focused on implementing Five Element and Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment plans. During the final two terms, our students focus on developing their own identity as acupuncturists and have the freedom to craft their own treatment regimens with guidance from our faculty. This experience gives our graduates the confidence they need to effectively treat patients in their own practice.

Won Institute of Graduate Studies’ Master of Acupuncture Studies Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM). ACAHM is the accrediting agency for acupuncture programs in the United States. You can view our official accreditation status on ACAHM’s directory. Additionally, our school is regionally accredited by Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)

View our full accreditation details on our Consumer Information page.
